 FOOD SAFETY/HYGIENE MANAGER

Location: GALWAY CITY

Salary: NEG

Food Safety/Hygiene Manager

Duties and responsibilities

1.QSC Inspections (quality, service, cleanliness)
Co-ordinate and undertake unannounced site inspections
Evaluate performance and practices based on audit checklist.
Report findings to general manager/franchisee/operations manager/area manager/managing director.
Follow up on findings with individuals involved in inspection, re-train where applicable.
Identify areas of weakness/high risk and provide corrective action.
Update inspection criteria with emerging standards.

2.Suppliers
Co-ordinate and undertake both announced and unannounced supplier audit site visits; follow up on findings; develop working partnership.
Monitor deliveries at head office warehouse and restaurants and implement corrective action.
Develop supplier specifications for all products.
Evaluate performance based on contract criteria/specifications.
Approve new suppliers before they become contracted.
Liaise with purchasing manager on quality and product functionality issues.

3.HACCP System
Verify all activities associated with high risk using Technical Support from External testing laboratory.
Update Hazard analysis and HACCP based on verification checks and emerging standards.

4.Training
Co-ordinate and organize food safety training, HACCP, basic food hygiene
Maintain updated training database related to all food safety/hygiene trainers
Design and develop related training programmes
Presentation of microbiological findings in a meaningful manner to managers.
Update operational training procedures and training booklets.

5.Hygiene Mark -
Implementation of food safety management systems with selected premises.
6.Environmental Health Officer (Health Board visits) -
Liaise with Health Boards in all locations.
Correspondence to Health Boards based on their site visits.
New site/opening EHO liaison.

7.Customer complaints
Manage all food safety and related complaints

8.Updates
Keep up-to-date on current/emerging trends in this field
Evaluation of same and implementation where applicable.

9.Lab
Coordinate Food Safety Programme with Laboratory.

Requirements
The ability to work cooperatively and effectively with others to establish and maintain good working relationships.
In-depth knowledge of food hygiene legislation and microbiology
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Clean drivers license

Education and experience
Third level qualification in a Food Science discipline.
2 to 5 years experience in catering/restaurant environment in a Food Safety/Hygiene role

Purpose of Role

The purpose of the role is to champion the service quality ethic within the Store, ensuring a ‘ can do, will do’ approach to customers and their needs. Accountabilities
To contribute to the achievement of Store targets for interest and non-interest income generation, by identifying selling opportunities and referring customers to the appropriate advisor (BDM, FC, S& I and LA)
Proactively sell credit cards to achieve or exceed branch target
Provide an excellent service to all customers, providing welcome, assistance, solution and follow-up (in person and over the phone)
Carry out the administration associated with account transactions, including the management of ‘ teller’ systems
Ensure that all diaries are managed effectively to promote an efficient customer flow and best service to the customers
Ensuring that all calls are answered promptly and fielded appropriately
Ensure that the environment is consistent with brand values. e.g. brochure racks stocked, office appearance and general tidiness
Assist the LA & S& IA with prospecting sales including processing of applications in accordance with prescribed systems and standards ensure compliance with audit and regulatory requirements.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with their colleagues in Manufacturing to ensure effective fulfillment of products, quality customer service and speedy resolution of processing issues
Deputise for LA, S& IA during absences – vacation or sick leave.
Maintain excellent product knowledge and complete relevant financial qualifications as appropriate

The Individual
5 Leaving Certificate passes at Grades A, B or C including English and Mathematics
Minimum 2 years previous experience in Retail environment (preferred)
Can-do, will-do attitude with a relentless focus on customer
Prior experience in team based environment
Good interpersonal skills
Excellent administrative and organisational skills
Flexibility and a willingness to learn and take ownership of personal performance and development
Basic computer literacy and keyboard skills
Excellent knowledge of First Active Processes and systems
