Software EngineerThe position is based with DAFT.IE  ( Property Website) in the Development Team and is based at the  offices in Latin Hall, Dublin 8
Daft is looking for a Software Engineer to join our web products team to work on the next generation of Daft products and services. Daft is the busiest destination website in the country serving over 59 million pages to over eight hundred thousand people every month.

Reponsibilities:

As an engineer on the web products team, you will be building apps & features that are used by hundred’s of thousands of people. We have a very high standard on our engineering team and are looking for smart, passionate developers. The role is an extremely rewarding one for the right candidate, as you will be given ownership over your own projects from day one.

Working at Daft will give you in-depth exposure to the entire range of different systems we have in development such as:

* The core libraries (PHP/Linux)
* The website front-end (PHP/HTML/CSS/AJAX/Javascript/WAP)
* The next generation of Daft features e.g. AJAX mapping (www.daft.ie/maps/), Flash Video (www.daft.ie/newhomes)
* Our payment and billing systems
* Our database and web server clustering system

Skills and Experience:

* Minimum 2.1 BSc/MSc Computer Science/Computer Engineering (or related degree)
* First class knowledge and experience of web application development using PHP, CSS, HTML, DHTML and JavaScript.
* A good working knowledge of at least one high level programming language required, e.g. C, C++, Java, Perl, Python, Ruby
* A good working knowledge of SQL is required. Any experience with MySQL or Oracle replication would be beneficial
* Any experience with Linux/Unix would be beneficial
* A good understanding of what users want and the ability to produce and recognize easy-to-use software

The Web Developer will be part of the Intranet team which is responsible for the maintenance, support and development of the Corporate Intranet, content staging for the Corporate Website and a range of web-based services in An Post for over 2,500 users in the company.

The Web Developer will be responsible for:

* Maintaining, supporting and monitoring Intranet systems and services.
* Developing and implementing new web based services as required.
* Recording and resolving errors and technical issues.
* Implementing imaging based solutions and services as required.
* Managing a network of Image capture devices.
* Maintaining technical documentation including Disaster Recovery plans.
* Offering technical advice and assistance to development teams and PC users.
* Contributing to the training and development of junior staff.
* Liaising with IT development and support functions and external suppliers of software.
* Complying with the An Post IT Unit standards and procedures.

The person
The ideal candidate will possess:

* a customer focus, with excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively with management, users and suppliers
* excellent analysis and problem solving skill
* excellent skills in HTML, ASP.net, C#, Javascript and Microsoft SQL Server
* a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and SharePoint Portal Server
* exposure to Content Management tools
* experience in or familiarity with web design concepts and development environments.

Salary range: €37k to €50k depending on experience plus performance related bonus.
